Brades,
Montserrat, MTB - May 21, 2009 - In a celebration of culture,
creativity and music, the island of Montserrat will host the 5th
Annual Calabash Festival, July 19 -25, 2010. The week-long event offers
a wide selection of festivities that highlights the hidden talents of
local artisans and designers. Key events on this year's program include a
gospel concert.
Named after the calabash fruit that was traditionally used to
produce eating utensils, musical instruments and decorative items, the
festival seeks to promote the destination through a range of events.
This year's program includes a daily Calabash Exhibition, an adventure
hike, a gospel concert, Prof. Dr. George Irish Lecture Series, a
Caribbean cultural food fair, cricket match and a grand finale summer
music festival.
